Glen Schneider and Ken Grossman founded SG Capital in 2002 with the launch of the Cedar Street Strategies from their office in downtown Chicago. Ethan Steinberg joined the team in 2013 and established the Teton Strategies in a satellite office in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The SG Capital Portfolio Managers, Glen Schneider and Ethan Steinberg, have a combined 50 years of investment experience focused on the US capital markets, combining in-depth understanding of top-down market forces with individual company fundamental analysis.

Glen Schneider, CFA

Co-Founder & President
Partner and Portfolio Manager

Glen co-founded SG Capital Management in 2002 and serves as President and Portfolio Manager for the firm’s Cedar Street Strategies. Prior to this, he was a Vice President with Mesirow Financial Asset Management and served as Portfolio Manager and Analyst of the firm’s small-cap equity strategy. Glen’s responsibilities also included conducting fundamental research and overseeing all trading activity for the strategy. From 1995 to 2000, Glen was an Equity Analyst for Coe Capital Management (previously a subsidiary of Paine Webber operating as Kent Capital). He began his career in 1994 as an Investment Associate for Merrill Lynch. Glen received his B.S. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin and holds the CFA designation.

Ethan Steinberg

PARTNER AND PORTFOLIO MANAGER
Senior Managing Director

Ethan joined SG Capital Management in April 2013 and is responsible for the management of the Teton Strategies.  Ethan shares responsibility for idea generation with the equity analyst team and portfolio management along with SG Capital Founder and Partner, Glen Schneider.  Ethan has spent the past 2 decades practicing a research-driven investment approach.  Combining his in-depth understanding of top-down market forces with individual company fundamental analysis, he has consistently delivered strong risk-adjusted returns.  Prior to SG Capital, Ethan spent 16 years at Friess Associates focused on the investment management activities of the Brandywine Funds.  He began his career in 1997 as a Research Manager, in 1999 was promoted to Researcher and then Research Team Leader (Portfolio Manager).  For the last 5 years, in addition to managing his own team, he assisted with CIO functions overseeing the Brandywine Funds entire portfolio.  Ethan graduated from Brown University in 1996. 

Kenneth S. Grossman

Co-Founder/ Portfolio Advisor

Ken co-founded SG Capital Management in 2002. Prior to founding SG Capital, he co-managed Mesirow Financial Asset Management and was responsible for the small-cap equity strategy and fixed income portfolio management. Ken joined Mesirow in 1996 as a result of their acquisition of investment advisory firm HGT Advisors, which Ken co-founded in 1983. Prior to forming HGT, Ken was a Senior Consulting Principal with A.S. Hansen, Inc and prior to that Ken served as Vice President of A.G. Becker and established their Consulting Group. He began his career in 1970 as manager of the pension program of Illinois Bell Telephone Company. Ken received his B.S. in Finance cum laude from the University of Miami and his master’s degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago.

Nicolette Rudman

Chief Compliance Officer  
Chief Operating Officer

Nicolette joined SG Capital Management in February 2010 as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. In this capacity, Nikki is responsible for firm wide governance, operational and compliance policies and procedures related to the firm’s hedge funds and separately managed accounts, as well employee and firm compliance. Prior to joining SG, she was the Head of Operations for Rail-Splitter Capital Management from 2005 to 2010 and before this, Nikki served as Manager of Compliance & Operations for JLB Investments, LLC, from 2000 to 2005. Nikki was a Registered Investment Associate and later Group Manager with Merrill Lynch from 1994-2000 and began her career in 1992 with Lehman Brothers at the Chicago Board of Trade. Nikki has a B.A. from Indiana University and is an active board member of the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization.

Adele Zieman Smith

Director of Business Development, Portfolio Analytics, and Client Services

Adele joined SG Capital Management in May of 2013 and served as a Research Associate. She took on the Performance Analyst role in 2019 to help with investor and prospect outreach. She completed Harvard Business School Online, Leading with Finance course in May 2021.  Prior to this, Adele was with 3 Creek Ranch Real Estate, a boutique real estate development company based in Jackson Hole Wyoming. She focused on overall market analysis, contract development, and negotiation. Adele started her career as a marketing, development, and real estate associate with DPS Development Company and obtained her Real Estate license in 2008. Adele graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 2006 and then completed a post-graduate business theory and practice program through the University’s McIntire Business Institute.

Georgia Klioris

Investor Relations, Operations Director

Georgia joined SG Capital Management in March 2024 as an Investor Relations and Operations Director.  Georgia has over 18 years of experience working in hedge funds and investor relations.  Before joining SG, Georgia worked for SG Capital’s Fund Administrator, where she managed the onboarding, investor services, and AML/KYC compliance for multiple hedge fund clients.  Prior to that, she worked at two related hedge funds based in Fort Worth, Texas.  She was the Executive Assistant to the Partner/CIO and was also responsible for investor relations, human resources, and office administration.  Georgia received her B.A. in International Business with a specialization in Marketing from Illinois Wesleyan University. 

Lawrence Weisman

Senior VP Research

Lawrence (Harv) Weisman joined SG Capital Management in 2016 as Senior Research Analyst. Immediately prior to joining SG Capital, he was a Portfolio Manager for Teton Capital Advisers, (no affiliation to Teton Long/Short Strategy) co-managing a long/short equity fund and conducting fundamental equity research for 19 years. During his tenure there, Harv also served as a research consultant to Friess Associates, manager of the Brandywine mutual fund, working with Ethan Steinberg. Prior to this, Harv spent 6 years at Andersen Consulting (Accenture) as a Senior Manager in their Financial Services practice, focusing on large bank mergers and acquisitions. Immediately after graduating from college, and prior to attending business school, Harv worked for First City National Bank in New York City for 2 years as a money market investment analyst. Harv received his B.A. in economics from Vassar College and his M.B.A. from University of Pittsburgh.

Matt Williams

Senior Research Analyst

 

Matt joined SG Capital Management in May 2024 as Senior Research Analyst.   Prior to joining SG Capital, Matt was a Portfolio Manager and Researcher at Friess Associates, LLC, working as a generalist with stock picking responsibilities across market caps.  Matt began his investment management career in 1995 at Gardner Lewis Asset Management and spent time as an analyst/PM at Rittenhouse Asset Management and Columbia Partners prior to joining Friess Associates in 2012.  Matt started his career in public accounting at Arthur Anderson and worked in private industry as a Controller and CFO.  In addition, Matt was co-founder of Flashcards.com, an internet startup.  Matt earned an undergraduate degree with a double major in accounting and marketing and a master’s degree with a double major in finance and real estate, both from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Scott Haugan

Senior Research Analyst

 

Scott joined SG Capital Management in July 2024 as a Senior Research Analyst. Prior to joining SG Capital, Scott was a Senior Portfolio Manager on the Voya Small-Cap Growth team. He spent 14 years as a small-cap Equity Analyst and, eventually, Partner/Portfolio Manager with Tygh Capital Management. Tygh was subsequently acquired by Voya Investment Management in 2022. Earlier in his career, Scott was an Equity Salesperson with First Analysis Securities and held Research Analyst roles with Columbia Management Group and Pacific Crest Securities. Scott received his B.S. in Business Finance from Montana State University and holds the CFA designation.

Kyle Verduin

Analyst

Kyle joined the research team at SG Capital Management in February 2020. Prior to SG, Kyle was an analyst at Citigroup Inc, where he also interned during his college years.  Kyle graduated from University of Miami magna cum laude with a B.S in Finance and Business Analytics. 

Jack Papadia

Research Associate

Jack Papadia joined SG Capital Management, as a Research Associate, in January 2024.  Jack attended the University of Wisconsin studying computer engineering.  Throughout his coursework, Jack interned for University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Heath, specializing in IT.  Jack also interned with Clarity Insights (purchased by Accenture), where he gained experience in recruiting and IT.

 

Mitchell Wilner

Business Development

Mitchell joined SG capital in January 2020 as Head of Business Development. Mitchell has over 30 years of experience in portfolio management, trading and research. Prior to joining SG, Mitchell worked in the fixed income group at Silver-Rock Financial . Before that, Mitchell served as portfolio manager of a long -short credit opportunity hedge fund at Crescent Capital Group for five years and was portfolio manager of a long short credit hedge fund at Armored Wolf from 2010 to 2013. Previously, Mitchell launched a long -short credit opportunity hedge fund and worked at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) for more than five years as portfolio manager and head high-yield trader. Mitchell also worked at Northwestern Mutual as head of high yield trading for two years.  He worked at Zürich-Scudder Investments as portfolio manager, trader and analyst for 10 years. Mitchell earned an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago, Quinlan School of Business.  He earned a BS in Finance, with honors distinction from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
